JAPN 400: Advanced Interpersonal Communication
MLO 4: Research Methods and Information Technology
Course Description:
This course aims to develop advanced proficiency in interpersonal communication through the formulation of research questions and conducting research utilizing appropriate technologies. Taught in Japanese.
Course Reflective Narrative:
This class was designed to help us begin our final Capstone project. We developed research topics, research questions for these topics, and began developing surveys to conduct our own research on the topic. Every step of the way we were giving and receiving feedback from our fellow students, and critiquing each other’s work. To conduct our initial research on our topics, we learned what technologies would be best to use. For example, we learned what databases we have access to as CSUMB students, and which ones are most appropriate for what subjects. Throughout the semester we used these technologies to research and develop our research topics. Each step of the way, we created small presentations on our research, showing the other students where our research is at and what direction we were heading with it. This also gave us a chance to ask fellow classmates as well as the professors for help if we were stuck in our research. By the end of the semester we had begun forming surveys to conduct our own research on our chosen topic.
My next step is to finish my literature review and survey. Once those are complete, I will distribute the survey among my target population, after which I will analyze the results and present my findings during my Capstone presentation.
